What are Serious Games?

A serious game is a game designed for a primary purpose other than pure entertainment. The "serious" adjective is generally appended to refer to products used by industries like defense, education, scientific exploration, health care, emergency management, city planning, engineering, religion, and politics (source: Wikipedia). We expect to see:

• game developers
• simulation designers
• training & education professionals
• social entrepreneurs

What is a BarCamp?

BarCamp is an international network of user generated conferences (or unconferences) - open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants (source: Wikipedia - again).

So what actually happens?

People rock up. There is a big board with empty timeslots (20 mins each) for presenters. Bag a slot. If people are interested, they'll come to your session. If you're good, they'll stay.

Will there be a list of speakers & topics available before the event?

No. But this page will list the registered attendees.

Can I just see what other people are doing?

Sure - but we have no doubt that you are working on something interesting at the moment. So tell us about it.

Is anyone making any money out this?

No.

Thanks to the generousity of the Australian Film Television & Radio School, we have a venue. If you want to make friends with a lot of people very quickly & have a bit of loose cash, then we recommend you contact us about sponsoring some food - or something else to make the experience for participants as fun as possible.
